THE Hekari United are excited about national team captain Michael Foster’s return to the Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League (NSL) side, says franchise owner Vonnie Kapi Natto.
Kapi Natto told The National that former Lae City midfielder Foster, who had a recent stint with Malaita Kings in the Solomon Islands top flight (S-League), had signed with last season’s runners-up on Dec 16.
She said the 34-year-old would fit well into the team’s culture.
“I welcome Michael back into our club,” Kapi Natto said last week.
“All our officials and players are happy to have him back at the club.
“Michael is an great player.
“He knows very well Hekari’s way of doing things.
“I don’t think it will be a problem for him to adjust to it. I’m very happy for him.
“Having him in our club is a great boost for our team.
“With his experience, he will blend well with our senior players like David Muta, Koriak, Daniel Joe, Ismael Pole and goalkeeper Leslie Kalai.”
Foster is the most capped player in the mens’ national team.
The veteran midfielder has made 27 appearances for the national team after he made his international debut at the age of 17.
He recently captained the national team to the Pacific Games in Apia, Samoa.
The veteran was also part of Hekari squad for 2009-2010 NSL season.
