THE Hekari Football Association in Kutubu, Southern Highlands, has honoured its commitment to purchase office equipment and other items for the Papua New Guinea Football Association (PNGFA) Academy at 11-Mile outside Lae.
Hekari Football Association president John Kapi Natto bought a new refrigerator and chairs at Brian Bell Home Centre for the academy’s education centre.
It was in appreciation of the academy’s support towards housing Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League (NSL) club Kutubu last season.
PNGFA president Kapi Natto said while they were awaiting funds, the Hekari Football Association took it upon itself to purchase the items for the academy. When handing over the items to academy operations manager Stanley Khanna at Brian Bell Home Centre, Kapi Natto said he was happy to reciprocate the assistance provided to his club.
Khanna thanked the Hekari Football Association for honouring its commitment to assist football in the country.
“Kutubu had been based at the academy throughout last season to save cost instead of basing the team in Kutubu,” he said.
The Hekari Football Association has endorsed Kutubu to take part in the NSL and are the only Highlands side in the country’s premier football competition.
Kutubu will compete for minor and major honours next season.
