Hekari set to lose Fa’arodo

SOLOMON Islands international and Hekari United FC import Henry Fa’arodo Jr is in doubt for Hekari United’s match against Koloale FC at the Lloyd Robson Oval in Port Moresby on Saturday.
He told Solomon Star yesterday that due to work commitments, it would be highly likely he would be playing for Hekari United in the O-League challenge.
Fa’arodo said he was currently looking after the office in the absence of his boss who was overseas, and it was unlikely he would travel to PNG.
He said he had already notified the Hekari FC management about his situation but had yet to receive any response from Hekari.
In a letter to Hekari, Fa’arodo explained that if Hekari wanted him to play, then he could only fly into Port Moresby on Saturday and return to Honiara the next day.
There is still no response from Hekari on the matter.
When asked about how he would feel playing against his former team, he said “it would be a huge challenge for me”.
“It is a challenge playing against the team that has been looking after me, bringing me to where I am today”, he said.
But he said as a professional footballer he was ready to take up the task.
“It will be a hard fought 90 minutes of battle, but at the end, we are still friends,” he said.
Fa’arodo scored the only goal for Hekari in their 2-1 loss to Amical FC of Vanuatu in their O-League opener last month.
Hekari host Koloale FC while Lautoka FC will play Amical FC in Fiji on Saturday.
Another veteran defender, Gideon Omokirio is also likely to miss the match for Hekari.
Omokirio, is currently in Tahiti undergoing a beach soccer course.
