THE people in Hela have been urged to look after teachers and school properties to avoid teaching and learning disruptions.
Education director Ronny Angu said this while welcoming teachers and students for the second term.
“We understand the challenges facing Hela can be overwhelming, but teachers and their families have made a commitment to be here for your children and communities despite the difficulties they may face,” he said
It is important that we work together to ensure that they are safe and secure in their homes and in their work.
Angu encouraged the communities to look after, support and respect with their families.
He further urged them to look after the school properties as it was expensive to build any infrastructure.
“By doing so, we can create a safe and welcoming environment that will allow them to continue to provide their services to our communities.”
Angu acknowledged the teachers for their efforts in term one and to continue their good work.
Students were reminded to be punctual, use their time wisely to learn.
“Think about your parent’s hard work in getting you enrolled in the school and appreciate their commitment by scoring good marks and make them proud,” he said.
