THE Hela education division is expecting a team of inspectors to complete inspection at schools in Koroba-Kopiago this week.
Provincial education director Ronny Angu said schools in South Koroba, Awi Lakayu and Kopiago were inspected last week with schools in North Koroba being inspected this week.
Angu said next week, the team comprising nine inspectors, from the school guidance and counselling division, would move to schools in Tari-Pori and then on to Komo-Margarima.
“Standards are what matters the most in education, without it, education becomes insignificant and valueless,” he said.
“The team will inspect school infrastructures and talk to head teachers, staff, students and parents.
“The inspection is vital to see if teachers were all present and teaching, teaching programmes done, the Covid-19 preventive measures were observed, school boards are functioning well and audit the overall school administration and leadership of the school.”
Angu said the emphasis had been on teacher performance and those found not meeting standards as stipulated in the inspection guidelines would not be given teaching positions next year.
Meanwhile, the director thanked the Hela government for giving two vehicles to support the province’s education division.
