Hela women happy with Okuk

 HELA women in the Moresby North East electorate gathered on Monday at the Vadavada-Manuaka 2 to welcome a young community-minded professional into their area. 

They staged a rousing welcome for Carl Okuk who visited and promised some financial help after visiting and assisting other such groups in the city.

The Hela women gathered in their suburb groups marked by their individual banners to welcome Okuk who gave a short speech and promised to help them with some money later. The largest group of women came from the Erima, 9mile, and Bomana areas.

Hela women’s coordinator in the Vadavada-Manuaka 2 area, Belinda Paliya said no one had ever done anything like this for them and Okuk was the first to show interest in issues affecting the unemployed women and youths.

“He  assisted in various funeral contributions, small business and school fee assistance,” she said.
