IT is said: help the needy and you shall be blessed, and one such helper is today the proud owner of a new vehicle.
Charles Niso helped out by buying City Mission fundraising tickets for K5 and that saw him winning a Honda CRV from the mission’s 2011 car raffle draw
courtesy of Port Moresby Mission and Wheels PNG.
Niso, of Madang, had his name drawn in the mission’s annual fundraiser, proceeds from which go towards running the charitable faith-based organisation.
Niso, an employee of PNG Power in Kerema, said he was delighted with his win.
“When I got the call,  I started screaming and my children did the same after hearing of the win,” he said.
“I bought 10 tickets from the boys selling the tickets outside Courts, at Gordons, in November when I was in Moresby,” Niso said.
City Mission fundraising and marketing manager Dorothy Koch said K28,000 was raised from raffle tickets sold by the mission.
She said the mission did charity work from its annual fundraising.
She said they trained boys with very little or no formal education on life skills.
“The youths undergo carpentry, agriculture, livestock, literacy training, field jobs such as metal welding and printing. Once they are seen fit, we organise their jobs,” Koch said.
She said it was through spiritual development in life that the boys who came in for training changed.
Koch thanked all its sponsors for their continuous support in running the organisation.
