CANDIDATES contesting the Fayantina local level government (LLG) seats in Henganofi, Eastern Highlands, say they expect peaceful elections.

Candidate Steven Ahiko said this was the general view expressed by the other 48 candidates and people in the LLG area.

“We are expecting peaceful election processes with favourable people’s attitude as the elections wind down,” he said.

Ahiko commended the people of Koana community (ward 8), Kofio (ward 11), Krevave (ward 10) and the rest of the Fayantina people for being well-behaved and supportive.

He also thanked them for their cooperation during the campaign period and urged them to maintain these positive attitudes through polling, counting and declaration processes.

“I also thank my local MP, Robert Atiyafa, for hosting a public forum for all of us 49 contestants last Thursday at Kuru Mountain village.

“The forum had allowed the people to assess the contesting candidates,” Ahiko said.

Similar sessions were held for the 24 contestants in Dunatina LLG last Wednesday and for the 22 contestants in Kafetina LLG last Friday.

“In fact, such forums were a first and a remarkable thing Atiyafa has done in the political history of Henganofi. I commend him for his initiative.”
