Hides Gas presents laptops to Tari school’s top students

HIDES Gas Development Company Ltd has reaffirmed its commitment to support human resource development in the Hela.
In honouring its commitment, the company presented laptop computers worth up to K3,000 each to the dux students in science and social Science at the 12th grade 12 graduation ceremony at the St Joseph’s Tari Secondary School last Friday.
The recipients of the laptops were Terence Dimugu, who got the overall dux award for the science subjects, and Robin Enoch, who got the dux award for social science subjects.
HGDC Ltd also sponsored the leadership awards, which were presented to male and female students who provided and demonstrated leadership qualities throughout the year.
The recipients of these awards were Edwin Peter, the head boy of the school and Anneth Garry who is in Grade 10.
They both received K1, 000 each for their leadership roles at the school during the year.
HGDC board director Dickson Yanabe Ango presented the awards on behalf of the company and told the students that graduating from the school was just the first step in their long journey and many different challenges were ahead.
“These challenges will be your real tests as you move on in life,” he said.
“If you do not overcome these challenges, you may not become what you would want to be in life.”
“HGDC as a landowner company would like to see many educated young men and women from the Hela province so that we can all work together to properly manage the landowner benefits from the PNG LNG project.”
He also told them to show respect to others and properties and to humble themselves but determined to take on any challenges that they may come across.
HGDC Ltd and its joint venture Companies made a commitment to award the top students with laptops and cash for the next five years.
HGDC and its joint venture company, Hides Alliance Group also have a commitment to support the home economics department of the school with cooking utensils with a further assistance
to be given to students from the school to undergo training and catering and hospitality so that they had the opportunity to work with Hides Alliance Group in providing camp and catering services to the project messes.
