THE Government has commended Puma Energy for believing in the people of Papua New Guinea.

Environment and Conservation Minister John Pundari (pictured), during a Puma Energy launch, told executives that opportunities are great in this country.

He said when one says they believe in a country, they come with the fact that they are committed to doing the right thing.

“For us employment, not just employment as we call it but the skills development, the training, and giving our Papua New Guineans a future in different roles and responsibilities at executive levels is the way to go.”

Pundari acknowledged Puma Energy for its serious consideration to safety.

“I must add that it has impressed me so much of the fact that you give durance to strictly complying with environmental management plans and environmental permits.

“Operating in an environmentally and friendly way I think is the way to go in the future.

“You and I share a unique global environment and there are issues and challenges that come with climate change,” Pundari said.

“And as people of a responsible global community, good responsible corporate entities will have to do the responsible thing.

“And just the responsible thing but I believe as the right for all of us as citizens of this great global community.”

Pundari said PNG might be small in its land mass but it possessed a great big unique biodiversity of flora and fauna.

“Giving a global comparison the little land space we have, we have about 8% of global diversity that exist in this country.”

He commended Puma Energy for its foundation that invests in helping to protect and conserving the unique biodiversity and environment of the country.
