A NEW administration block and a double classroom for Usino Technical High School in Usino-Bundi, Madang, is under construction.
The school’s headmistress Annie Dorea said it was a great achievement for the school to have the buildings built.
She said the school had a new project in place that accounted for a dual programme, where students could graduate with an academic and technical certificate.
Dorea said the school started its academic year with 150 enrolled students and five staff members this year.
There were three classes of 50 students in grade 9.
“We are operating on borrowed facilities from our primary school at the moment, basically teaching the academic subjects, plus practical skills and home economics courses while waiting for the technical subjects to take full swing,” Dorea said.
“The staff are happy that the school has its own building under construction as they will now be able to move freely and teach.”
According to Dorea, Usino-Bundi was one of the districts which was way back in terms of education and having the newly-established school in place encouraged a lot of students.
