Highlands team manager upset

WOMEN’S Rugby League Highlands team manager Maria Kumbang has expressed disappointment that two of her players from the zone trials were not named in the Papua New Guinea Orchids team.
Kumbang said Oxcy Teine and Rebecca Tumbo were outstanding players from the Banz Women’s Rugby League.
She said Teine, pictured, was presented a trophy for her efforts at the Highlands trials held last month.
“The Banz Rugby League is appealing to the Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League board to look in to this matter,” Kumbang said.
“It is common around the world that genuine selection is done on merit.
“It is a sad scenario for the two players — Oxcy and Rebecca.”
Banz Rugby League president Timothy Ginga also expressed disappointment over the matter.
