Highway robbers remain a large

THOSE involved in an armed robbery at Naru Mountain along the Lae-Madang Highway last month remain at large.
Madang police commander acting Supt Manzuc Rubiang told The National that police were still patrolling the section of the highway in search of the criminals.
He said 15 joint security personnel deployed to patrol the highway would continue their operation because their presence had made some difference during Christmas and New Year.
“I want the public to assist the police with information of the whereabouts of the criminals who robbed the bus on Dec 17 and shot dead the bus crew and injured a passenger who later died.
“If you do not assist the police and keep on hiding the suspects, they will continue to do the same,” Rubiang said.
He said this year he wanted the people of Madang to start addressing law and order issues at their respective communities and police could assist when they needed them.
Rubiang said four CS officers were from the Beon correctional institution and five police officers from Walium police station and six police officers from Madang police station were doing operation along the highway.
