MORESBY South electorate has the highest number of HIV and tuberculosis (TB) cases in the National Capital District, according to statistics.

This was revealed yesterday at a training workshop for HIV couples facilitated by the NCD health services at the six mile clinic.

Sr Manasseh Kelly called on the government to provide funding assistance for more training for health workers on couples counseling because that would help a HIV negative to stay negative and a HIV positive to stay healthy.

“We give more training, we save more lives,” she said.

“I thank the International Education Agency (IEA) for their support in funding this training workshop,” she said.

“So far, this is the third training workshop that we have conducted. We are planning to conduct more but we need financial assistance for the government and other stakeholders.

Participant Ivan Vaii has also raised concern that the clinics in the Moresby south electorate need a vehicle for the clinical rounds.

“If our MP could help us with a vehicle it will solve much of our problems,” he said.
