THE Hohola Offseason Rugby League competition was disrupted over the weekend becuase of continuous rain.
Interim competition president Roger Laka said wet weather had flooded Ipi Park at Hohola forcing organisers to abandon matches becuase of the condition of the field.
“Luckily, we managed to run three B grade matches on Saturday morning and another two B grade games yesterday morning when the rain stopped for a while,” Laka said.
“The remaining B grade matches and A grade games will be played as washout games anytime during the week weather permitting.”
Laka called on team managers to get updated draws for mid-week games. Laka said if the rain continued all through this week, then they would have no choice to run the washout games next weekend and the games scheduled for next week would be deferred to the next week.
He said the weekend’s games were supposed to be Round 7 matches with four more rounds before the competition wound up at the end of the month or in the first week of February.
“The Hohola rugby league competition is the biggest offseason competition in Port Moresby and we have a women’s division as well to make the competition as inclusive as possible and we wish to compete the competition in high note,” Laka, who is also a member of the Hunters coaching staff, said.
