Home crushed by fallen tree

A FAMILY escaped unharmed when a tree brought down by strong winds fell on their home at night in Lae.
David Anton and his family, originally from Timbe in Kabwum district, lost the home and belongings where they lived at Yamandi, Bumayong, in Lae on, Feb 4.
Neighbour Aden Basa said families should cut down old trees near their homes.
“It was very windy in Lae and many people were affected,” he said. “If families have an old tree growing near their house, they must cut it down.
“It is very dangerous to have trees growing next to properties.”
Basa said the family had been living there for more than 10 years.
“They lost everything in the house, and are currently seeking help from the Morobe disaster office.”
