Homes burnt after quarrel

TWO families lost all their properties after their homes were razed during an argument over the third State of Origin rugby league match in Vanimo, West Sepik.
Provincial police Commander Moses Ibsagi said: “Angry supporters set fire to two houses of innocent neighbours at Bewi settlement after an argument broke out over the result last Wednesday.
“These families lost all their properties worth over K100,000. The supporters watched the game on television.”
Ibsagi said six suspects burnt the homes.
“We are still conducting investigations.”
Meanwhile, a primary schoolteacher appeared before the Vanimo District Court charged with touching four female students and raping one of them in West Sepik, senior provincial magistrate Sasa Inkung said.
“Kenneth Ulei, 33, from Wati village, Nuku district, West Sepik, appeared in court for the alleged sexual assault of the girls aged 17 to 18 years old in their classroom in Nuku between June 7 and 15.”
He was refused bail and is to appear next month before the same court for committal proceedings.
