HORIZON Oil chief executive Brent Emmett says there are two export options for the Stanley Gas Project in Western.
He said that Horizon Oil’s option is for the pipeline to run to Daru Island while the Kumul Petroleum Holdings Ltd’s (KPHL) proposal is via Western Pipeline.
“For the Horizon Oil, pipeline will run from Stanley down to Daru and it’s about 500km and we plan to carry the gas to Daru Island,” Emmett told the PNG Petroleum
“The second proposal option for KPHL, the pipeline will begin at Elevala then run about 400km to Kopi and then another 400kilometres to Caution Bay in Port Moresby,” he said.
He said Horizon Oil as the operator will continue to work on the pipeline from Stanley down to Daru Island. With the two export options, he congratulated the KPHL and said that Western pipeline project from Elevala to Caution Bay must continue.
“We (Horizon Oil) intend to work cooperatively with KPHL on the Western pipeline and in future we will make selective decision based on when it’s going to happen, viability risks, technical accounts and what the benefits are,” Emmett said.
He said the option to include P’nyang in the Western pipeline was a critical decision to make so urged the KPHL to execute by financing their pipeline.
Emmett also said there would be benefits out from this project.
“The benefits from the project will be employments, infrastructure that will be available for other businesses, tax revenue generated from these businesses and many other benefits,” he said.
“People are going to work together and we are doing that.”
He further said that in such a project, working closely with the government is important.
“We need government support because when we do aggregation, we need to manage license so that is where the government support comes in to help us.
He said they are seeing support from the government especially from the Minister of Petroleum and Energy and department staff.
