Houra end Doria’s reign in Tatana

HOURA finally ended Doria’s reign in Tatana volleyball when last year’s runners-up dethroned the defending champions 3-1 in the men’s grand final on Saturday.
It was Houra’s first grand final win from three attempts in the Tatana Araira Amateur Volleyball Association (TAVA).
Teenage sensation Billy Anton and Kato Ben Ottio who were part of the TAVA U21 winning team, played a key role in the victory.
The match was decided in the final set with the two youngsters on fire.
Doria, who had stars Bobby Batari, Bobby Rarua and Fredy Noah, could not stop the surging Houra.
Houra clinched the final set 15-11 and ended and eight-year streak.
Anton capped off  a great season when he was also named the player-of-the match and most-valuable-player.
In the open women’s grand final, Doria beat Houra 3-1.
Nadis nailed K. Kone 3-0 to win the U21 girls crown while Doria outclassed K. Kone 3-1 to win the U21 boys title.
In the men’s A reserve,  Doria defeated K. Kone 3-1. 
TAVA president George Daera thanked all the village clubs and team managements for making the 2011 season a success.
