ESTRANGED husband James Toni wants his wife, government minister Loujaya Toni, back in his life.
He told The National last Friday that he desperately needed to talk to the Lae MP about their family’s future.
Toni pleaded for his wife’s return following the Lae District Court’s decision last Thursday to place him on a five-year good behaviour bond and restrain him from threatening and assaulting her.
Loujaya, the minister for community development, youth and religion, had asked the court to order her husband to stop harassing her and interfering in her work.
However, Toni appealed to his politician wife to resolve their differences out of court and move forward.
“I’m really concerned about her political career, her integrity, dignity and identity as a leader,” Toni said.
“I’m the one who made her a politician.
“I believe in the beauty of her dreams and I support her to become somebody.
“I can’t destroy what I built, like her potential as a politician.
“As her husband, her head of the family, and her adviser in her political career, I am really concerned about the advice she gets from other people to destroy our family, and her political career.”
Magistrate Nasiling Bingtau had said in his ruling that in the event the couple wanted to reconcile, they should apply to the court to vary, amend or dissolve the orders by consent at
any time.
Minister Toni could not be reached to comment on the ruling yesterday.
