NEW Chief Migration Officer Stanis Hulahau hopes to restore stability and confidence in the Immigration and Citizenship Authority (ICA).
“The ICA has gone through an extended period of change,” he said.
“After speaking with our senior management team, it is clear that they welcome the certainty that my appointment provides.
“I am proud to say that a majority of ICA staff are motivated and capable public servants.
“They are committed to the role of protecting our country.”
Hulahau said Minister for Immigration and Border Security Westly Nukundj was aware of the recent commentaries in the media on the new appointment.
“He is fully focused on the responsibilities of the ICA towards the security of our country and he expects all immigration officers to be attentive to the critical task at hand,” he said.
“We are still facing a global pandemic and the challenges that accompany it. At this time more than ever before, no Papua New Guinean wishes to see public servants affording more attention to their positions, than the responsibilities that follow them.”
Minister for Public Service Joe Sungi said the National Executive Council had on Jan 20 revoked the appointment of Robert Kennedy as the acting chief migration officer and approved the appointment of Hulahau to replace him from Jan 28.
