SUSAN Hulo is promoting local organic food and meat to support local suppliers in Morobe.
Hulo owns the Lae Meat House and gets her beef supplies from Sialum in Tewae-Siassi.
She said the idea of setting up the Meat House began when her family conducted a research in Lae.
“We’ve been looking around the city and I haven’t come across a shop that concentrates on quality and organic meat,” she said.
“There are big supermarkets selling meat, but not concentrating on local organic meat and fresh vegetables. The idea was also to support our local suppliers.”
Hulo said the biggest supply of beef was from Sialum and Markham.
“At the Meat House, you will find Sialum beef, PNG sausage, chicken, lamb flaps, groceries and fish we order from West New Britain,” she said.
Her family also operate a guest house in Popondetta, Northern, buy copra and cocoa, and real estate.
“We hire young people, especially in tourism and hospitality. she said. “We created a lot of jobs for young people and we train, help them with references to find jobs.”
Hulo is from West New Britain.
