Hunters sign on carrier

THE Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League (PNGRFL) and Air Niugini yesterday extended their agreement for another year as silver sponsors of the SP PNG Hunters.
PNGRFL chief executive Reatau Rau said the partnership covered all Hunters travel to and from Queensland during the 2019 Queensland Intrust Super Cup season.
“We are grateful to our national flag carrier Air Niugini, for continuing this vital partnership for the Hunters players and staff to travel to and from Queensland to participate in the Q-Cup competition this season,” Rau said.
Rau said Air Niugini would be the carrier of choice for the players and coaching staff to their home provinces in the event of emergencies or when the team was on a bye.
He said Air Niugini would be the carrier of choice for all visiting teams to PNG.
“Part of our participation agreement with QRL is for PNGRFL to pay the travel costs for all visiting teams to Port Moresby,” Rau said.
Air Niugini managing director Alan Milne in signing the agreement said Air Niugini as the national airline was proud to be able to continue the partnership with the PNGRFL.
“Under the agreement, Air Niugini will provide airfares for all Hunters travel to and from Queensland as well as travel within PNG,” Milne said.
Milne further said under the airline’s higher altitude programme, Air Niugini was now more focused on customer experience. “It is an honour to be your airline of choice; we will do everything possible to ensure your travel to and from Queensland as well as within PNG is carried out smoothly as per our Agreement. “Both our organisations represent PNG and it is only fitting to make Air Niugini your airline of choice,” he said.
“Air Niugini is now focusing on its staff and since Papua New Guineans love their rugby league, I believe Air Niugini staff and management are proud to be associated with a brand like the Hunters and we hope you do the same for us.” Milne said. Air Niugini is a foundation partner with the Hunters since the club was launched in 2014.
