ICCC inspects new RH Service Station at 8-Mile

INSPECTIONS on fuel pumps at the new RH Service Station in 8-Mile, NCD, was conducted by Independent Consumer and Competition Commission (ICCC) yesterday.
ICCC consumer protection division senior investigation officer Bill Boiu and consumer protection division investigation officer Dennis Jerry inspected the station’s fuel pumps measuring capacity.
This involved, confirming the correct measurement mechanisms used to at the service station fuel pumps.
According to the two Independent Consumer and Competition Commission officers, the inspection and subsequent certification is mandatory for all fuel stations before starting operations under the Trade Measurement Act.
This was to safeguard fuel consumers in order to ensure they get the right amount of fuel they have paid for and to ensure fuel retailers are compliant to pricing regulations.
RH Trading operations manager Yap Seng Bok told The National that it was important to comply with regulatory requirements for its customers and operations.
“The station is expected to be opened in the next few weeks after meeting final requirements and expects to service the fuel needs of those within the North East electorate (of Port Moresby),” Bok said.
