The Ihu Special Economic Zone in Gulf is slowly gathering pace.
The SEZ has progressed from phase one to phase two which is that stage where utilities and infrastructure are to be developed.
Kikori MP Soroi Eoe said support and political will is needed for this and other SEZ projects to be to be realised and progressed. Eoe said his administration had taken over the responsibility and progressed the Ihu SEZ project a fair way.
Eoe said Ihu SEZ project had developed because the Kikori development authority (DA) had progressed the project from early stages to its second phase.
“The second phase requires land mobilisation, landowner identification-all these issues and then the progress into identifying the investors,” he added.
Eoe, who is also the Minister for Department of Provincial and Local Level Government Affairs, said the project needed proper infrastructures before it could be completed.
“That includes power sources, road infrastructures, international airports, wharfs and port development,” he said.
These important infrastructures should be in place before international investors were invited.
