INNOVATIVE Agriculture Industry (IAI) has now extended its project to Ijivitari in Northern.
Last week IAI chairman and executive director Ilan Weiss led his team to Guguma village outside the Girua airport where the multi-million kina project would be developed.
“We have heard about Oro ,of its agricultural potential because of its volcanic soil which is one of the best in the country and therefore we are eager come here and work the fertile soil.
“Agriculture is the lifeline of any human race and once you establish it it’s here to stay.
“People in PNG generally don’t understand how lucky they are to have this wonderful land, fertile soil and endless water resources and good farmers.
“Without agriculture people won’t be able to survive and by market demands people all around the world need to eat,” Weiss said.
“We have to respect the land not contaminate it and do sustainable agriculture business and also environmental.”
Ijivitari MP Richard Masere had initiated the project which he said was a great entrepreneurial vegetable farming industry.
Masere said the project would see an investment of more than K20 million in the province which would also provide employment opportunities for up to 1500 people and also spin-off businesses for the locals.
“I’m excited about the introduction of this great new agricultural industry, because it will provide an avenue for locals and provincial agriculture officers to learn new skills and knowledge” Masere said.
“It is time people revert to agriculture and work the land because once all these resources (extractive) are exploited they will resort to agriculture to sustain them.”
