Ikumu to assess assets under NCD command

THE number one priority of new NCD Met Supt Gideon Ikumu is to take stock of the resources at the disposal of the NCD command when he begins on the job on Monday.
He was handed the command sword by outgoing Met Supt Perou N’dranou at the Boroko Police Station yesterday.
Supt Ikumu said: “I am mindful of how big the command is, we have the diplomatic embassies, Parliament and Government offices, we have everyone from around the country living in the city, which is the gateway to the rest of PNG.
“I am also aware of the land borders between NCD and Central, the size of the city has tripled since I came back to Port Moresby, the population has also grown.
“While, I have my work cut out for me, I am willing to work with all the officers under the command.
“This is why I will be taking stock of all the resources the command has – firearms, vehicles, staff etc.
“We want to ensure we get that done, then we can properly divide the assets we have within the command to ensure better policing.
“This will enable us to meet the demands of policing within the command.”
