Image maintains peace: Governor

PEACE is what the people around the world desire to have for a harmonious society and police stations are the image that maintains that peace, says Morobe Governor Ginson Saonu.
Saonu made the remarks when opening the Bundi Camp police station in Lae built by the Papindo Group.
The police station was handed over to Lae police to maintain law and order in Nawaeb, Bundi Camp and Buimo Road settlements.
“Citizens must take ownership to look after facilities and services offered generously by corporate stakeholders like Papindo, South Pacific International Container Services (ICTSI) and Hilmar Wong family among other reputable companies in Lae,” he said.
“Citizens’ attitude must reflect that ownership and responsibility in taking care of police stations that are built to instil peace in communities.”
He said if citizens changed their attitudes, law and order issues would be lowered and the provincial government would redirect spending to development projects such as roads, bridges, education and health among others.
Saonu said he would sign an agreement with Police Minister Bryan Kramer and Commissioner David Manning to initiate a police reservist and regular recruitment programme in Morobe.
