Improve NID system for citizens

Letters

I AM writing to express my deep frustration and disappointment with the National Identification (NID) system in Port Moresby.
I have on three separate occasions attempted to obtain my NID and each time I have encountered a series of bewildering and time-consuming obstacles that have left me questioning the efficiency of our government’s services.
My first attempt was met with a response that I had a “fingerprint mis-match.”
Frankly, I had no idea what that meant, and the lack of clarity or assistance in addressing this issue only added to my confusion and frustration.
Undeterred, I made a second attempt, hoping for a smoother experience.
To my dismay, I received the same response – a fingerprint mis-match.
This time, I was determined to get to the bottom of this issue, but despite my best efforts, the NID office left me without any clear resolution or guidance on how to proceed.
Finally, I submitted a third application for my NID, determined to overcome the previous hurdles.
However, I have now been waiting for over four months with the same disheartening response: “Still awaiting approval.”
As a new public servant, I am eager to comply with government systems and regulations but the inefficiency and lack of transparency in the NID process are disheartening.
The NID system is a vital component of our nation’s governance and identity management.
It should be efficient, accessible, and responsive to the needs of the citizens it serves. As a responsible and law-abiding citizen, I believe that the government has a duty to provide clear, timely, and supportive services to its citizens.
In this regard, the current state of the NID system falls short of what is expected.
I would like to urge the NID office and the relevant authorities to take immediate steps to address the issues I have faced and to enhance the overall efficiency and transparency of the NID system.
It is crucial that these concerns are resolved, not only for my benefit but for all Papua New Guineans who may be experiencing similar frustrations.
In conclusion, I am committed to being a productive and law-abiding citizen, and I sincerely hope that the NID system can be improved to make it more user-friendly and accessible.
The people of Papua New Guinea deserve a system that is efficient, effective, and responsive to their needs.
Thank you all for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to a resolution that ensures a more efficient and streamlined NID process for all.
