Incest cases a great concern

 SENIOR statesman and former Governor-General, Grand Chief Sir Paulias Matane has expressed disappointment at the rise of incest cases in East New Britain.

He said yesterday this was contradicting the fact the province was a law-abiding one.

“I am sad to hear that incest cases are growing at a fast rate in the province,” Sir Paulias said.

“This hurts many of us who try to maintain a good picture of ENB.” Sir Paulias said the people there had a strong culture that forbade such sexual offences within family circles.

He said statistics presented in the media recently regarding sexual offences within family circles called for all stakeholders in the modern and traditional setting to address it.

“I call on all the people of ENB to promote goodness in this province,” he said.
