A WOMEN’S organisation has suggested that church leaders should be part of a commission of inquiry to look into the recent clash between police and university students in Port Moresby.
Women Rise Movement president Sarah Haoda Todd said they supported the call by Student Representative Council president Kenneth Rapa for impartial and an independent commission members.
She said the commission should include representatives from the church, United Nation, Melanesian group and the judiciary.
She said it was disappointing that UPNG had not improved its process to facilitate dialogue or provide an avenue for students to present their views and thoughts.
“While we commend student leaders for their bravery as leaders, they should take some responsibility of what transpired,” she said.
“They should ask themselves whether they could have done it differently.”
