India charity night a success

National, Normal

THIS year’s India Nite charity fundraiser was a milestone event on its own.
The annual function was held last month at the Sir John Guise Indoor Complex.
During the evening, those who attended were impressed and entertained by the cultural integration as the highlight of the show, which welcomed PNG participants in co-performance and entertainment both in contemporary and traditional Indian dance.
The showcase of Indian culture was organised by the India Association of PNG which consists of about 100 Indian families living in Port Moresby.
The staging of the India Nite saw 650 people attend, all from different nationalities.
In the past five years, the Indian community had donated about K1 million to various charitable organisations and people in need through special projects and assistance in kind.
The India Association in partnership with PNG Sustainable Fund have built a clinic at the Sogeri National High School.
The health facility is set to open in two weeks time.
