IN the fiscal year 2013, the Education Attaché Office, Indonesian Embassy in Port Moresby, re-implemented the programme “RI-PNG Student Exchange”, involving students of the Bandung Institute of Technology (BIT), St Joseph’s International Catholic College and Senior High School 3 Semarang.

Tiaravanni Hermawan (Vanni), a civil engineering student of BIT, participated in the programme and visited Port Moresby from June 5-19.

There she worked on the educational and cultural mission by conducting dissemination of Indonesian education and culture, as well as presenting information on various famous tourist spots in Indonesia.

After reporting to the ambassador Andreas Sitepu, Vanni went to St. Joseph’s International Catholic College and was received by the principal George Swamy, accompanied by Yogiarti Barampataz (as host).

Swamy expressed gratitude at the presence of Vanni and hoped she provided encouragement to the students to think more globally, especially considering that Indonesia is one of the closest countries to PNG.

Vanni visited Korobosea International School and the University of Papua New Guinea.

At Korobosea, Vanni talked about Indonesia focused on the interesting tourism places. She presented 10 interesting tourism places, one of which is Komodo island.
