THE Government is investing in infrastructure development that will benefit the nation for many generations, Prime Minister Peter O’Neill says.
O’Neill told the PNG Apec team, officials, security officers and partners who met for a briefing on Friday that the Government was spending money on building roads, ports and wharves.
“The buildings are going to be used to make sure that generations continue to enjoy the benefits of some of those infrastructures,” he said.
“We are also building infrastructure in the other provinces.”
He thanked development partners for supporting PNG deliver Apec in the manner expected.
“We are building communication infrastructure,” O’Neill said.
“That is why we are now developing the undersea cabling and national broadband via Telikom and
PNG Power. We are now encouraging investment in the energy sector.”
He said the PNG Apec team was delivering policy discussions “in a much more detailed manner and as expected”.
“Those discussions are fruitful and very relevant to each of our nation. Encouraging investment between nations is an opportunity. It’s not easy to attract global investment into PNG,” he said.
“Not everyone is lining up at the doors to invest in our country.”
