Ingredients for anarchy and disintegration

Letters

THE scale of undermining the rule of law by current leaders and the effects this has on society and business has surpassed the level all previous leaders in Parliament from 1975 to around 1995.
Never in the history of PNG political leaders including the prime ministers of the past have tactically undermined the rule of law or depart from established processes in decision making.
PNG, in the last 15 years or so, has seen the rule of law and process being tactically evaded or deliberately defaulted for self-parochial interest.
It seems such practice as become the norm of operation for the close associates and members of the inner circles.
Sadly, though, we are at the beginning of a very critical and serious threat to the rule of law and process in decision making by leaders.
Laws and rules are basis of civilization without which this country can fall into deep recession and subsequently into social anarchy and disorder.
For instance, the result of not adhering to the rule of law, process or directive principles of this country by leaders, has seen two leaders claiming to be prime minister of this country in the past.
In Hela, two candidates claim to be the governor after the election.
Two members were sitting in Parliament both claiming to represent their electorate.
Leaders need to take control of their desires, be it power or money.
What matters most here is the noncompliance to the rule of law and process in making those decisions or having leaders appointed or declared.
PNG just saw a complete disregard to the parliamentary process and went ahead to carry on a vote of confidence.
Simple rules adopted to preserve and safeguard the process, the dignity and sanctity of the Parliament is undermined and trampled.
This in itself threatens the rule of law. In civilized western democracy this does not happen.
All activities we do is guided by a law or process including taking off and landing of an airline passenger plane.
Failure to observe rules will always result in chaos and disasters.
We just witnessed one recently vote of confidence as opposed to VoNC.
If leaders continue on this trend of mindset, mark my words this country will disintegrate like the former USSR.
The ingredients for social anarchy and disintegration is brewing on the horizon.
