Inherit godliness, says pastor

THE inheritance that parents leave for their children and grandchildren can never be dropped or destroyed, international author and pastor Michael Yusef says.
“Most often there is resentment and bitterness over inheritance,” he said.
“I have always believed in focusing on inheritance that is far greater than my parents could ever have.
“My real inheritance will not perish, cannot be destroyed and can never be taken away by somebody else.
“It is going to go with me after I die physically.” While sharing on the Wantok Radio Light last Sunday, Yusef said: “Inheritance causes heartache and grief among family members, separate siblings and there is war over inheritance.
He referred to a story of a nine-year-old girl who had a conversation with her mother about a vase.
The vase was significant to the family in a way that it had been passed on from generation to generation.
“Mother, do you know that vase that is in the living room you told me has been transferred from generation to generation?” the girl asked her mother.
“Yes, it’s a valuable vase,” her mother replied.
“Well, this generation dropped it,” the little girl said.
Yusef said there was an inheritance that one could leave with his/her children and grandchildren that could never be dropped or destroyed and that was godliness.
“It is your walk with God,” he said.
Yusef said according to Psalm 16, those who had their inheritance in and with Christ were “totally under the cover of the sovereign Lord”.
“They are totally owned and operated by the sovereign Lord that they are conscious of the fact that their very breath is in his hands,” he said.
“They are body and soul sold out to Jesus Christ, they are protected by him, preserved by Him and they are engulfed by him.
“Ask yourself this question: Do I seek the company of the Lord more than anybody else in the world?
“Do I seek the company of those who seek Him?
“Do I feel uncomfortable in the company of those who sin bluntly, plainly and openly?
“Do their values of godlessness trouble me?
“Does their lifestyle of wickedness repulse me?
“It is a self-administer test to see if you meet the condition of your inheritance or not.
“If you are like Peter warming your hands on the fire of the godless, those who turned their backs on Jesus Christ, then you have gone too far from Him.
“Get back to Him before you deny Him.”
