GOVERNORS of Enga, Morobe and Southern Highlands are working together to restore normalcy for University of Technology students to return to classes.
Higher Education Minister Francis Marus told Parliament that there was still tension at the Taraka campus in Lae.
He said governors Sir Peter Ipatas (Enga), Kelly Naru (Morobe) and William Powi (Southern Highlands) had discussed the issues.
“They are now finding a way to find an understanding for the peace ceremony at Unitech Taraka campus,” Marus said.
He said the Government had decided to salvage the academic year for the Unitech and UPNG and it is now up to the university administrations to implement the decision.
Marus said he would visit the Bainik Agriculture College in Maprik, East Sepik, to assess the infrastructure before allocating funds to upgrade the college to become a campus of the University of Natural Resources.
Marus was responding to Maprik MP John Simon about the progress of the college proposal to gain university status.
