FROM its humble beginning in 1997 in Lae with just three female employees, cleaning company Lae Everclean now has over 200 employees in Lae and Port Moresby.
The founder and managing director of the company is the inspirational Sarah Haoda Todd who was awarded the overall 2011 Westpac Women in Business Award last week.
She also received the SP Brewery Entrepreneur Award that recognised outstanding achievement by a woman with at least a 50% shareholding in an organisation in the field of innovation for new products or services.
Todd attributed the success of her business to her loyal employees.
She said she had always encouraged them to be professionals with positive attitude despite the nature of their job.
“It was amazing and I am very humble and honoured,” Todd said.
“Westpac is concentrating on women and I think it’s a great thing’, she said.
Her company provided cleaning services to businesses such as SP Brewery in Lae and Nambawan Super Ltd in Port Moresby.
The judges said Sarah was a “passionate business leader and an outstanding example of a high achiever”.
Head of Westpac retail banking Adam Downie said Todd valued her employee as the number one asset of her business and she had a dedicated and loyal team of employees.
