Inter-city netball competition brewing

AS part of its internal campaign in fostering good working habits, SP Brewery’s female staff took upon themselves to introduce an annual netball competition between the Gordon and Lae breweries.
SP Brewery’s human resource manager Jerry Atahu said the initiative to organise the inter-company game was taken up by the netball ladies at both their Port Moresby and Lae operations.
“The initiative is timely as within the company we are trying to promote the ‘SP Way’, which basically means working together to achieve the company’s goals,”  Atahu said.
The Port Moresby and Lae netball teams will be vying for the inaugural SP Way Cup.
Atahu said the netballers at the Port Moresby head office took the initiative in fundraising activities to fly over to Lae to play against their colleagues on Sept18.
“The management was approached by the POM SP netball team for some assistance and we were only too happy to assist them.”
The SP Brewery Port Moresby team is set to take on the Lae SP team this Saturday in a three match tournament that will be held at the St Paul’s primary school in Lae.
