Inter-school competition in second round

THE 2019 Institute of Business Studies (IBS) College of Tvet maths/ information technology (IT) inter-school competition for grades 10 and 12 was hosted at 11-Mile, Port Moresby, last Friday.
The three-rounds competition began last month with 443 students from 11 secondary schools within NCD and Central participating.
Hundred forty eight students progressed into the second round and sat for their respective exams on Friday.
Event coordinator Donah Miskaram said the aim of the competition was to students’ build interest, introduce concepts, teach major strategies for problem solving, strengthen intuitions and foster creativity and ingenuity in maths and IT.
For the grade 10s, the second round was the final round where six students would be awarded out of 35 (first three from both fields) and for the grade 12s, 16 students out of 73 would be selected to go to the final round next month.
