CRIMINAL investigations into the 8-Mile incident in Port Moresby will continue despite the outcome of the dialogue between the tribal parties and police says Metropolitan Superintendent Perou N’dranou.
N’dranou said National Capital District (NCD) Police had a dialogue with the tribal fighting parties over the weekend.
He said whatever the outcome of this dialogue, it will not in any way prevent police from completing criminal investigations to the case.
“The investigation into the destruction and homicide is continuing.”
“Our team had a dialogue with them over the weekend but it was postponed because some people from both parties who involved were not there so we scheduled for another day,” N’dranou said.
“At the moment it is getting back to normal and it just needs us to complete dialogue with both groups again, as our main concern is that we find a way to stop the fight permanently and at the same time complete the investigation.”
N’dranou said the situation there was less tense, but a mobile squad unit is placed there to monitor situation in the area.
