INVESTING in our children’s education is vital in the human resource development of the country, Ijivitari MP David Arore says.

He said this when presenting the cheques last Friday in Popondetta to educational institutions in the Ijivitari district, Northern.

The following institutions benefitting from the Ijivitari Higher Education Programme (2012-17) are University of Natural Resources and Environment Popondetta Campus (K300,000), St Magrette Nursing College (K200,000), Anglican Teachers’ College (K100,000), Newton Theological College-(K25,000), Popondetta Skills Training Institute (K100,000), Popondetta UPNG Campus (K100,000), Biru Prisoners’ training programme (K20,000), International Training Institute (K300,000) and Anglican Education Service (K25,000)

The other projects funded by Arore include the Anglican Health Services (K25,000), Afore Women’s Resource Centre (K250,000), Oro Bay housing project (K50,000) and Oro Bay water project (K50,000).

Arore said his focus was to develop the human resources in Ijivitari district to contain lawlessness in Northern.

The Ijivitari higher education programme is aimed at providing a second chance to the non-school leavers in the district.

Arore added that the Grade 10 and Grade 12 school leavers in the district were benefitting from the programme.

“We have 100 students already benefitting from this programme. We need to invest in our children in developing our human resource.

“When our children are educated, they will deal with their problems in life,” Arore said.

He encouraged parents in Ijivitari district to enrol their children under the programme.

“This is a golden opportunity not be missed by our parents,” Arore said.

He challenged the Ijivitari students to focus on their education.

“I am giving our students second chances in life under this programme.

“Our children need to make use of this opportunity, as such opportunity comes once in life” he said.

He said giving second chances to the students could increase the numbers of Northern students attending higher institutions in the country.
