SEVERAL Greek investors have expressed interest in looking at opportunities in shipping and renewable energy in Papua New Guinea.
PNG Ambassador to the European Union and Greece, Joshua Kalinoe said investment opportunities in agro-forestry businesses were also being pursued.
Kalinoe was in Greece at the invitation of a Greek-based PNG investor Nick Roniotis last Tuesday.
He met with several CEOs of companies in the shipping and renewable energy industries as well as the mayor of Argros-Mycenae and president of the mayors of Peloponnese Dimitrios Kamposos.
Kamposos, who has visited Port Moresby, said he was keen to assist in facilitating political and economic relationship with Papua New Guinea.
“Roniotis and myself are working together to connect with investors in the shipping, renewable energy and agro-forestry sectors,” Kalinoe said.
“There is keen interest by Greek companies that I have spoken to and the embassy will provide the appropriate information to relevant stakeholders in Papua New Guinea.
The onus is on PNG businesses and policy makers to connect with them to strike business deals,” he said.
