CITY Pharmacy Ltd yesterday made official a “corporate box” agreement with a K50,000 sponsorship through subsidiary Hardware Haus Ltd for the Ipatas Rugby League Cup.
Enga Governor Peter Ipatas received the cheque from Hardware Haus chief executive officer Richard McGuiness.
“From the beginning people thought of it was my politics, but it is a proven competition 14 years later,” Ipatas said during the presentation at Hardware Haus boardroom, attended by CPL chief executive Sudhir Guru.
“Hardware Haus coming on board was proof of the competition’s success. I am thrilled and excited, thank you.”
McGuiness pointed out the governor’s passion to promote rugby league at the rural areas as one of the main reasons for the company’s support.
“HHL is committed to supporting community projects like the Ipatas Cup and in particular rural-based projects that help bring better services and way of life to remote parts of the country, through major community sporting and cultural events as well as new infrastructure and upgrades,” McGuiness said.
“We applaud the governor’s initiatives within the area of sport and in particular his electorate, and HHL are proud to be associated with the 2013 Ipatas Cup competition.
“We are extremely pleased to offer this K50,000 support to the governor of Enga province and hope this can assist him to bring the 2013 Ipatas Cup rugby league competition to life.”
Ipatas Cup CEO Timothy Lepa welcomed the company’s financial support, saying the competition still aimed to develop and promote rugby league among the grassroots people.
