Irai turns her passion into business

Business

Linda Irai has always wanted to make people feel beautiful so, naturally, she became a hairstylist.
To do that while working for people wasn’t enough, so in 2004 she opened her own salon in of Kundiawa town, Chimbu and called it Bomaigii, meaning “all the women from Bomai”.
Bomaigii offers tailoring services for corporate wear and school uniforms, haircut, styling, manicures and pedicures.
Irai has an open personality and has many friends who have been helping her business grow. She treats her clients as extended family.
Irai’s success has resulted in her being selected one of 26 recipients of The Australia Awards Fellowships, which is run by the Australian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and which provides short-term training.
In Irai’s case, training in entrepreneurship and new venture creation will be next month in Queensland.
This programme will be delivered by the University of Sunshine Coast and Look Now Training. The programme aims to encourage, support and advance the potential of Papua New Guinean businesswomen in the micro, small and medium-sized enterprises sector through improved business practices, financing and investment.
Irai thanks her mother Rose Mark for her support.
Her advice to women is: “If you attach passion to your dreams, you get closer to achieving it”.
