THE Internal Revenue Commission is providing more staff in its new northern regional office in Lae to carry out its roles and responsibilities effectively.

Assistant commissioner Dr Alois Daton said the increase in business activities in Lae required more staff and accommodation.

Only four officers are manning the regional office in Lae under manageress Jessie Tamegal.

The office is on Fourth Street in Top Town.

Daton said Lae city’s investment potential was increasing.

The Morobe provincial government provided land at Apex Park on Parer Street in Eriku, to build a three-bedroom house for the manager.

PNG Forest provided building materials.

“To implement state obligations effectively, officers on the ground need a decent home to live in,” Daton said. He will submit a proposal to the Government to build decent homes for staff in Lae.
