THE Rabaul District Touch Association competition is progressing well after starting in late June this year.

Managed and coordinated by Rabaul town’s veteran sports administrator Tony Namur, the association is now into its final games of round 2.

Namur has been instrumental in the establishment and progress of the ENB Rugby Union Association, which is Rabaul-based and boasts of a number of players on the national team, the ENB Kaias.

Namur handed over the administration of rugby to president Hubert Minana so he could focus on the touch association.

According to Namur, Rabaul had a high potential of progressing more touch rugby players to national standard and it was his aim to provide the avenue for exposure.

Namur thanked the Rabaul District Events Committee on behalf of the district administration for their continued support in progressing sports for the entertainment and containment of youths in the district.

The association has named six teams to participate in the National Touch Championships to be staged in Kokopo over the Independence weekend.

He said teams have started training last week.

The association boasts a number of Pacific Games players led  by Ronald Bibiken.
