Islands record 27 Easter babies

HOSPITALS in the New Guinea Islands region recorded 27 babies born on Easter Sunday.
St Mary’s Vunapope Hospital in Kokopo delivered five babies, with the heaviest of the day weighing in at 3.6kg.
The child was born to Jocelyn Ori from Matupit, in Rabaul district, at 10.55am.
Nonga Hospital in Rabaul delivered six babies, with the heaviest, a boy weighing 3.6kg to a mother from Pomio, Schorly Yaigom.
Lorengau General Hospital in Manus delivered three babies, the heaviest being a girl who weighed 3.5kg to Claudia Saleu, from Pelipowai.
Kimbe General Hospital in West New Britain delivered 11 babies, with the heaviest weighing 3.6kg to a local mother while  the lightest weighed in at 2.2kg to a mother also from West New Britain.
New Ireland’s Kavieng General Hospital delivered two babies on Sunday with heaviest a 4kg girl to mother Lydia Kila.
