GULF Isou coach Norris Selu, who is sticking with the same side that beat the Mendi Muruks last week for Sunday’s Round 8 Digicel Cup match against the Port Moresby Vipers, said he was confident of maintaining their momentum and form at the National Football Stadium.
The game will be the curtainraiser to the Round 11 Intrust Super Cup game between the SP PNG Hunters. The Isou, who beat the Muruks 16-14, have managed four wins from their six games at the venue.
“We’re in some good form,” Selu said.
We came back on Sunday to beat the Muruks so I think we can beat a team like the Vipers.”
The Vipers are coming off a tough 14-10 away loss to the Hagen Eagles and would welcome a return to their home town.
The Vipers are still finding their feet after a slow start to the season — they lost their first four games — where coach Steven Gunua’s men have won two of their last three games.
Selu commended his side for their composure and patience on a torrid night.
“We have a good pack who are laying a foundation for us and hopefully they can do that against the Viper,” Selu said.
Selu said captain and prop Moore Evara had led the side well but unfortunately was sin binned against the Muruks and he hoped his on-field leader would not let his guard down when things got heated.
“Moore got binned because of his aggression and a bad tackle but he is our leader so we hope he can focus on doing that help the side this weekend.”
Selu said he wanted to see a lower error count from his side in order to allow his side to apply pressure on the opposition to get the win.
