GULF Isou continued their perfect start as they beat Goroka Lahanis 6-0 in round three of the Digicel Cup at the Santos National Football Stadium in Port Moresby yesterday.
A 32nd-minute try by centre Eliakim Lukara and second-half David Joseph penalty goal provided the only points of the game.
Yet to record a win this season, the Bintangor-sponsored Lahanis struggled for points against a strong Isou outfit.
The Lahanis’ spine of Charlie Buka, Jetro John and Dylan Vavana was easy pickings for Isou defenders, who kept them scoreless despite the Gonzella Urakusie-coached side having a decent amount of possession in Gulf’s territory.
Isou, on the other hand, were poor in their handling as they were unable to complete over 50 per cent of their sets.
The Roger Laka-coached side looked certain to for a bigger win with playmakers Joel Tapie and David Joseph combining well with interchange hooker Jerry Teme.
But they could not finish well in attack. Isou’s only try came via a set move by Teme and Joseph who linked up with fullback Gabby Taune to send Lukara over to score.
Laka said after the game that his Petroleum Resources Kutubu-sponsored side needed to work on their attack. “The amount of errors and execution is something we need to improve on for our next game,” the SP Hunters legend said.
“But we are happy to get our third win of the season.” The new-look Isou side are currently on the hunt for their first Digicel Cup premiership this season.
